AND how you can do exactly the same thing.

Okay. I can just hear the groaning out there. Build a website? You are probably thinking "I can hardly manage my e-mail account let alone build a website"... Or maybe you are saying, "That is so over my head!"

Right?

Well not so fast. If you think building a website is far beyond your reach, then you have to read my story – because I too had doubts... BIG ONES. First, I am no computer genius. I don’t have any internet technology diplomas. In fact, I didn’t even own my own computer until a few short years ago!

Yet today I own a professional-looking website about a topic I LOVE... Oh and by the way, earns me thousands of dollars each month!

Curious how I overcame fear and changed my life? – Read below...

First, every story has a beginning...

I married and began my family in my early twenties. By my mid-twenties, I had two children under the age of 5. It was about this time I joined the Army – where I had to spend a great deal of time away from my kids and husband.

After the military I became a full-time Chemistry student and spent most of the next few years in the school’s laboratory or in the library doing research.

AND when school was all said and done (bachelor’s of science degree in tow), I eventually found myself working in a sunless hospital laboratory as a Medical Lab Technologist where I remained for years and years.

A pay-day away from disaster.

After a few years of working at the hospital I began to realize that we were getting further and further into debt.

During the day my husband, Andrew worked as a line-cook at the Holiday Inn making $9 an hour. I was making $15 an hour working in the lab. And by this time we had 3 children (I had another baby my last year in college).

Income was minimal... but expenses were not.

Our rent for a three-bedroom apartment was $1050 per month in our area – not including utilities, phone expense, or water service. But believe it or not, that was relatively cheap!... A friend of ours was paying $1500 dollars for a 3-bedroom house.

Add in credit card debt, health insurance costs, student loan debt, child care costs, food, other living expenses, and it became clear to us that we were getting killed by our finances...

Something had to give.

My MLM Experience... And how it didn’t work for me.

Well one day during all of this financial turmoil, Latoya - a coworker of mine – approached me about a Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) opportunity that she had recently become a part of. She invited me to a Monday evening meeting at her house.

Honestly, I was very skeptical.

But since Latoya was a really good friend at work, I didn’t want to disappoint her... So I decided to go to the meeting anyway.

That night I drove 30-minutes out to her house. When I got there her yard was full of parked cars. She had invited a guest-speaker that night. The guest speaker was this young man who by the age of 30 had made it to the Platinum Level – whatever that was.

The bottom line was that he appeared to be making major money.

The guest speaker told us about the struggling young college student he had once been.  Then he shared how he’d found his success through sheer determination and enthusiasm.  And finally he showed us how the pay structure would work if we put in the hard work.  From what I could tell it seemed that ordinary people like me were doing well in the business.  So I paid the $130 or so for a starter kit.

And thus began my MLM journey.

This MLM opportunity wasn’t what I expected.

Within a few short months I began to realize that something was seriously wrong.

I had become a true believer in the business, but to what effect?...

I was buying more of the products for home and personal use than I was selling to others.  AND I spent less time with my family (which did not please my husband one whit!).  AND because I was constantly on the go, I was tired most of the time.  Also, friends and family began avoiding my phone calls...  My feelings were hurt, BUT - they were really sick of the sales pitch.  Frankly, I couldn't blame them.

The worst part was, after many months of hard, exhausting work -- I hadn’t made any money!

Surely there had to be a better way.

Finally a real solution...

Okay. What do people do these days when they have a problem?...

They turn to the internet for a solution. I did the same. After much browsing around eventually I ran into something called Site Build It!... That was the beginning of a whole new opportunity in life for me.

I had no idea what SBI! was... But this time I was going to do my homework.

Over the next week or so I poured over the information that was presented on the website. I read the case-studies, checked out the stats, and followed all the links. When I was finished, I was extremely excited!

Could it be that I had found my answer?...

Potentially, with SBI! I could create a thriving business from home in my spare time. AND this was something I could do without sacrificing the people most important to me.

What I learned was that anyone can make money on the internet from just about any topic. AND I didn't need to sell a single product to do that - although I certainly could sell products or services online should I choose.

You mean I could choose any topic?... Now THIS was going to be a ton of fun!

I was excited to discover that in addition to the many topics on which to build a successful website - there are countless ways to make money from that website too.

I could create e-goods to sell, or get paid for leads and referrals. There were also commissions from e-books, or affiliate programs. Also, I could sell goods and services (without face-to-face selling by the way!). OR I could even participate in Google's Adsense program.

And that was just the tip of the iceburg.

So, I would be able to decide what mix of monetization I employed on my website, and the potential would only be limited by my ingenuity and hard work...

Best of all - the rewards would be mine... unbelievable!

My time would be my own. This was a truly flex-time enterprise. In other words, I didn’t have to attend a never-ending stream of meetings, or product demonstrations like I had in the MLM company. I could work on the business whenever I had a spare moment – and still build a successful website.

That meant my family and kids would come first.

And, to calm my beating heart... I learned that all the technical aspects of building a professional-looking website were handled completely by a set of easy-to-use tools. I wouldn’t have to learn any difficult software to start! These tools would let me concentrate fully on my hobby or passion, and leave the tough stuff to the pros.

I can’t emphasize this last point enough!

You don’t have to worry about writing HTML, or learning Dreamweaver to build a website!... I didn't even know what HTML was. That was fine – because I didn't have to know. I would literally be guided in building my entire website page by precious page!

Finally I learned that many other moms and dads just like me were having tremendous success. There weren’t just a few successful folks at the top (and many people at the bottom). Quite the contrary - many, many people were building successful businesses.

When all was said and done, I would own a website. The profits and rewards would be mine and mine alone. After working in someone else’s downline organization for months and months, this was so refreshing to me. I would have something uniquely my own.

Well, to make a long story short...

I decided to try SBI! - and haven't had any regrets.

I resigned the MLM thing all together and started building a profitable website instead.

Two years later I was able to quit that hospital job. NOW I work full-time on my website (Yes - I am the Baby Name Guru!) and my daily schedule is my own.

I get up early before the kids, and work some on my website. Then I take a break in the mornings and help get everyone off (I cook breakfast, iron clothes, whatever it takes). After the mad rush is over and the house is silent, that is when the website builder in me comes out to play.

Evenings are spent as a family.

We eat dinner, watch our favorite programs on TV, and on Family Nights we play games or watch movies together. In the summers we take extensive family vacations because we can afford them now. Our bills are paid on time AND we’ve been able to pay down our debts substantially.

When I look back on how things used to be, I can’t help but feel so grateful that now, I get to be the mommy I’d always dreamed of being.  I also get to help other mothers pick out great baby names for their little babies...

And to think, just a few years ago life was so much different.
